Business writing occupies a major part in the journey of business. The business writing normally differs from the academic writing. In the essay writing the writer starts with the brief introduction and explains his/her thoughts in the main text and concludes the essay with the results arrived from his thoughts.

The business writing is like an inverted pyramid in which the writer brings the work broadly and finishes it with a narrow focus. It must contain some proper headings, short sentences must be adopted. The paragraphs must be brief and concise and it must be very accurate. Above all the business writing must be reader friendly. The writer is communicating or literally talking with the reader. Hence the communication must be effective.

The business writing and business editing has some formats which are widely accepted by the business scholars. There are some important methods to organize the memos, letters and business reports.

Memos can be considered has the backbone of business writing. Memos and the letters are the most common methods of the business communication. Sometime memos resemble the business letters and are used to communicate information. The memos are widely used in the business world. But memos differ from letters in many ways. Memos are used with in the organizations. It is used for non-sensitive communication, which means, the reader will not have any emotional feeling while reading a memo. It has direct style of conveying the matter and does not contain any solution. It is entirely different from the business letters. The format of the memo will be date, from, to, subject and the text of the memo. They are very simple and accurate.

The business letters circulate outside the organization also. It contains some sensitive message, which may make the reader to react emotionally. It does not have any particular organization format. Proposal reports have standard form of business writing. It has contents of the report type in which the report is written and also the organization of the report. Apart from this all the reports contain detail description of the project. Although the contents vary from the report to report regarding the companies' context and subject, the actual report writing process remains the same.

Business editing is normally done by the great business editors, who help to produce the business writing in the perfect manner. The business editing method checks the clarity, accuracy, repetition, superfluous words and the use of jargons in the inappropriate places in the business letter or reports. Apart from editing the proof reading plays a vital role. Proof reading process helps to check the grammar, spelling and syntax. Though there much modern word processing software it cannot beat the ability of manual proof reading. Business editing process helps to present a perfect, error-free business letters of reports. So business writing and business editing are like two pillars in the world of business.
